  Tour 2 – Bulls and Horses

Tour 2 – Bulls and Horses, because is the region where the tradition of bullfights is more deeply rooted. In the vast plains of Ribatejo, here called "lezírias" (marshes), bulls are bred in total freedom, having always by their side the typical figure of the "Campino", a horseman who in festivity days wears its typical attire: white stockings up to the knee, red waistcoat and green cap on his head.
The reserve has to be made in advance. Please contact the cellars before hand.

7: Companhia das Lezírias
Part of the company's huge agricultural space, the cellar lies near typical rural buildings. The vines cover 120 hectares of sandy soils. The main varieties grown are the white Fernão Pires, Arinto and Trincadeira das Pratas and the red Castelão, Trincadeira Preta and Alicante Bouschet. There is a horse riding centre and a tourism complex nearby.

8: Quinta Grande
It is surrounded by the gardens of the owner's home and by a fascinating collection of traditional rural dwellings. The vineyard covers an area of 60 hectares. Fernão Pires, Trincadeira das Pratas and Tália are the white grape varieties that have been planted and Trincadeira Preta, Periquita and Grand – Noir the red grapes grown in the Quinta's sandy soils.

9: Quinta de Santo André
The cellar occupies the main place among a group of typical Ribatejo farm buildings. The vineyard covers 50 hectares of land on the plain and the Sorraia valley. Fernão Pires, Trincadeira das Pratas and Tália are the main white varieties and Trincadeira Preta and Periquita the main red.
